Sruli Fruchter is a rabbinical student, writer, activist, speaker & creative living in Jerusalem, Israel.
While pursuing semikha (rabbinical ordination) at the Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary, Sruli is the director of operations at 18Forty — a Jewish media company exploring Jewish thought and ideas in a modern age — and is also a contributing columnist at the Forward.
Sruli studied International & Global Affairs at Yeshiva University, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude and received awards for Service to the Jewish People and Excellence in Bible Studies. In May 2022, Sruli delivered a TEDxYeshiva University talk on making work meaningful. Sruli was the 100th editor in chief of The Commentator, Yeshiva's independent student newspaper, and was a finalist for the Religion News Association's Religion Reporting Excellence.
When not reading, learning, or tweeting, Sruli enjoys adding books and articles to his ever-growing reading list. Though Sruli has published in diverse outlets, the New York Times is still a holdout.
I write not because I have the strength to write but because I lack the strength to be silent.
